Christmas Pickup Guide

Your pies will be ready soon! Holiday pickup days at Birdie's Pie Shop are the best times of the year. It's busy, there are lines, fun, new friends and lots of pie! This little guide will help you get ready for pickup day!

Piecrastinators (Is there hope for you?)

We understand you. Like, kindred spirits. For this reason, we will be baking all night Sunday to make extra pie for those still needing a Christmas miracle. We'll have a limited number of each pie, of course, but you'll be sure to leave with something worthy of your Christmas table!

  • Sweet Pies: Gingerbread, Cranberry Orange, Candy Cane Cream, Chocolate Cream, Triple Berry, Key Lime, Pecan, Apple, Raspberry Cream, Peanut Butter Chocolate
  • Savory Pies: Christmas Breakfast Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Veggie Breakfast Pie
  • Rules: No call-ins, no holds. First come, first serve. If you can't get off work, send family or friend. If you don't have family or friends, send your neighbor. If you don't have family, friends or neighbors - message me - I'll be your friend.

*rules caveat - if you're pregnant (or a ginger) I make exceptions for you.

General Pickup Rules:

  • Rule #1: We don't control the weather. We wish we did. But, we don't. So please check and dress appropriately in anticipation for lines outside.
  • Rule #2: Be kind. Mean or grumpy people in line are not tolerated. I'll smile, give you hug, a refund and ask you to leave. Love you. But, serious.
  • Rule #3: We cannot and will not take phone orders or save pies for those who message or call us. That would be unfair to those in line.

When can I pick up my preorder or come buy pie?

  • December 23rd from 10am to 6pm

The 10am Line:

Remember, if you preordered you can come whenever you'd like. You don't need to come at 10am. Come at noon. Maybe 1. You'll say, "this is the best ever." If you come at 10am, just remember, 90% of that line is ALSO preorder folks...all coming and excited to pick up pie at the same time. So you will have a line. You've been warned.

You'll have to trust us when we says after about 50 holiday pickups, we've tried just about everything to move that line quickly. We've done pickup locations, we've had two lines, we've had exclusive hours for pick ups. We've tried it all. Our system now, I very much promise, is the best and quickest.

The single line is really "two lines in one". This is for safety, too. Our shops are small. We need clear entry and exits. If you're in line, preordered and need more pie, you just stay in line. If you don't need more pie, there will be gals with tablets that pull you aside, look you up and "runners" go and grab your pies. That's how it works! Each preorder person takes about 45 seconds to help.

Can we ask a favor of you: If you are going to have someone else pick up your order, can you ensure they know what they're picking up? As you can imagine, we're trying to move quickly. If we make a mistake, say we grab a chocolate peppermint instead of a chocolate cream - that's an easy accident. So if your pick-up person knows exactly what their picking up - it sure helps. :)

I Preordered But Now Want More Pie

Need to add pie to your existing pre-order? Pie-tastic! You're probably one of those amazing homes that everyone wants to come to so you now need more pie? Knew it. Well, you're in luck because we'll have plenty in the shop for ya! So if you want to add to your order, you too can get in here at 10am, LoveBird!

Parking

Did you know that we weren't around in the 1920's when our little shops were first built? It also means we didn't create the parking lots or parking options around our buildings! Crazy, right? :) The reality is, there are about 6 days a year total that parking is an issue at our shops. During those days, we are constantly told by well-intentioned pie goers that we need to purchase more land and make a bigger parking lot!

But I promise if you stay positive, don't mind walking a block -- everything works out! We really are doing the best we can. And, if you have the right attitude, pick up day is the best day of the year!

North Idaho Shops: Use the side streets, even the side streets across the street. In Hayden, there's a lot south of us in the strip mall area that they don't mind us using on these busy days.

Spokane: Good news! We have actually rented the lots behind our building! (see pic below)
